Canada Removes Job Offer Points from Express Entry Program

1 Apr

Effective March 25, 2025, Express Entry permanent residency candidates will no longer receive Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points for a valid job offer in Canada. CRS points are used to enhance a candidate’s chances of being selected from a pool of permanent residence applicants. This change will be applicable to any current or future selections.

Prior to this change, Express Entry candidates have used job offers to secure 50-200 additional CRS points. The use of job offer points has been significant and has often been a factor as to whether a candidate is selected to apply for permanent residence under the Express Entry program. Now, candidates with valid job offers may expect their CRS scores to decrease and must rely on point totals in other areas (age, education, language proficiency, etc.).

Canadian permanent residency candidates are encouraged to contact Foster regarding the impact of this new rule to current or future Express Entry applications.
