On March 25, 2025, under the direction of U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem, the DHS is expected to publish in the Federal Register a Notice of Termination of Parole Processes for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans.
According to an advance copy of the Notice, the parole programs established under the Biden Administration for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans are being terminated, effective 30 days following the date the Notice is published in the Federal Register. The expected effective date of termination is April 24, 2025. Parole for beneficiaries whose current parole period will expire prior to April 24, 2025, will end on that earlier parole expiration date.
The Notice states, “Parolees without a lawful basis to remain in the United States following this termination of the CHNV parole programs must depart the United States before their parole termination date.”
Parolees should consult with qualified immigration counsel such as Foster LLP to evaluate any legal options they may have to remain in or return to the United States.
